MAIN, MANTECA, CA <br /> SITE CODE 2333-1 <br /> PURPOSE OF WORD: <br /> To properly plug one ( 1) groundwater monitoring well which was <br /> placed on the above property to assess possible contamination to <br /> groundwater caused by a removed UST. Water analysisrom that <br /> well has revealed no volatile hydrocarbon substances, and the <br /> County EHD has approved site closure, (correspondence dated March <br /> 16, 199: - copy attached. ) <br /> A brief worlf�p fn or destruction of the well is given below; an <br /> -a-p`p`I-1E-a7Eion for permit & a check in the amount of $60. 00 is <br /> attached. <br /> PROGRAM: <br /> 1. Using Osterberg & Stewart equipment, the well will be plugged <br /> with cement by either of the following techniques: <br /> a) A hydraulic hose or similar equipment will be attached to the <br /> top of the 2" FVC casing, and cement slurry will be mixed in a <br /> vessel designed for such use, and pumped down the casing with <br /> sufficient pressure to insure that cement is forced out through <br /> the perforated casing & sandpack into the sediments beyond. The <br /> casing will be left full of cement. <br /> b) The casing will be drilled out, (washed over, ) with hollow <br /> stem auger flights and recovered. The open hole will then be <br /> filled to the surface with cement. <br /> 2. The drilling contractor will have all necessary equipment in <br /> order to abandon the monitoring well by either of the above <br /> methods; if the County EHD has other specifications than those <br /> given above, please contact Osterberg & Stewart so that they may <br /> have the necessary equipment available. Surface restoration will <br /> be done in accordance with County requirements. <br /> ,.
