Ms. Victoria McCartney <br /> May 27, 2008 <br /> CONESTO 3A-ROVERS <br /> &ASSOCIATES <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br /> CRA proposes to abandon tengroundwater monitoring wells according to the State of California Well Standards. Upon <br /> completion of this work,CRA will submit a We]]'Destruction Report to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department and will submit Well Completion Forms to the California Department of Water Resources. CRA proposes <br /> to perform the tasks described below. <br /> Underground Utility Location:CRA will notify Underground Service Alert of the drilling activities to identify utilities <br /> in the drilling area. Three borings around each well.will be cleared to 8 feet below grade using either air or water <br /> evacuation of the soil or by hand augering. <br /> Site Health and Safety Plan:CRA will prepare a site safety plan to protect site workers. The plan will be kept onsite <br /> at all times and signed by all site workers. <br /> Permits:CRA will obtain well abandonment permits from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department prior <br /> to beginning field operations. A minimum of 48 hours of notice will be given to San.Joaquin County prior to beginning <br /> drilling activities. <br /> Monitoring Well Destruction:. CRA will properly destroy ten groundwater monitoring wells(MW-1,MW 2,MW-3, <br /> MW-4, MW-5S, MW-5D, MW-6S,MW-6D, MW-7D, and MW-8). The wells will be cleared to 8 fbg using an air <br /> vacuum truck or hander and the wellbox will be removed. Once cleared,the wells will be drilled-out to the total <br /> ----- - <br /> depth of each well,using 8-inch diameter,hollow-stem augers. After each well is drilled out,the boring will be tremie <br /> grouted with Portland cement, and finished to match existing grade. Standard field procedures are presented as <br /> Attachment B. <br /> Soil and Water Disposal: Soil cuttings generated during abandonment will be stockpiled in a soil bin onsite pending <br /> analysis and proper disposal. Any waste water generated by the abandonment activities will be stored in drums pending <br /> proper disposal. �- <br /> Reporting: After the wells have been properly abandoned, a well abandonment report will be prepared that, at a <br /> minimum, will contain: <br /> • A summary of the well abandonment activities, <br /> • Analytical reports and chain-of-custody forms for the soil disposal, and <br /> • Soil and water disposal methods. <br /> 4 <br /> Worldwide Engineering,Environmental,Construction,and IT Services <br />
