Eight grab soil
samples, each representing approximately twenty five cubic yards, were collected from this stockpile by a
representative of Touchstone Developments under the supervision of Robert McClellon(San Joaquin
County Public Health Services, SJCPHS)on September 27, 1995.The samples were designated as SP-la
through SP-ld and SP-2a through SP-2d.The eight samples were composited into two separate samples
(SP-1 a-d and SP-2 a-d)at a state-certified laboratory and analyzed for TPHGas,BTEX and total lead in
accordance with Chevron's designated landfill requirements. Copies of the respective chain of custody and
analytical results are attached for your review.
There were approximately 30-40 cubic yards of soil stockpiled at the subject site as a result of the used oil
UST removal on September 27, 1995.Four composite samples(DOSP-1 a-d)were collected by
Touchstone and witnessed by SJCPHS on that same day. The samples were later composited in the
laboratory and analyzed for volatile organic compounds(EPA 8240), semi-volatile organic compounds
(EPA 8270),total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons(EPA 418.1),total lead,and CAM 17 metals to
meet landfill acceptance criteria. The respective chain of custody and analytical results are attached for
your review.
In addition to the above-mentioned soil volumes,Chevron proposes to offhaul and dispose of two
additional soil stockpiles. One stockpile represents approximately forty cubic yards of soil that was
generated on October 2, 1995 during the removal of excess bacMI remaining in the former fuel UST pit
and during the deepening of the same pit from approximately thirteen feet below ground surface to
approximately seventeen feet below ground surface beneath the location of Touchstone's previously
