In the work plan CRA proposes the
advancement of three soil vapor borings to approximately six feet below surface grade (bsg) using
direct push technology to collect soil vapor samples at-locations indicated in Figure 2.
EHD approves the advancement of the three soil probe borings for collection of soil gas samples in
SUMMATM canisters. However, EHD believes either one additional-soil vapor boring is needed, or
the soil boring nearest.the station building needs to be.moved to the southeast approximately fifteen
feet. This new location is closer to where total, petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) was
detected at 260 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) in dispenser over-excavation .sample DX-E-7.0
during the underground storage tank removal in September 1995. Soil gas samples will be
analyzed for TPHg by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) method TO-3; volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) and isobutane:-by EPA method TO-15; and oxygen (02) and carbon dioxide
(CO2)by method ASTM 1946.
Please respond to the EHD recommendation for either an additional soil vapor boring or relocation
of the proposed soil boring, located at the northern-most position in -Figure 2 by November 26,
2007.
