S E C 0 R
*Y;
Ms. Victoria McCartney t
November 24, 2004 E' x
Page 2
5'
islands under a common canopy, and a station building containing two hydraulic hoists
(Figure 2). City of Ripon municipal supply well #7 is located approximately 1,500 feet east
of the site. Two domestic supply wells are located approximately 1,500 feet north and
1,900 feet northwest of the site. No domestic or municipal supply wells have been
identified within 2,000 feet west or south of the site. Historically the groundwater flow
direction has varied. During the recent quarterly sampling event, third quarter 2004
(3Q2004), depth to groundwater across the site ranged from 31.82 to 39.18 feet bgs."The
groundwater flow during the 3Q2004 was reported to the east at an approximate gradient of
0.07 to 0.1 feet per foot (ft/ft). -During the second quarter of 2004 groundwater flow was
reported to the northwest at an approximate gradient of 0.002 to 0.006 ft/ft. Durinp the first
quarter of 2004 groundwater flow varied at an approximate gradient of 0.001 to 0.0-9 ft/ft.
v v .
PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK 'I
The scope of work proposed for this assessment is the installation of two monitoring wells
and the performance of a UST tracer leak detection test. The locations of proposed
groundwater monitoring wells are shown on Figure 3. Results of SECOR's Well Search
Report, dated November 15, 2004, indicates that monitoring wells owned by Nestle Foods
Corporation (Nestle) are located south/southwest of the site. SECOR will attempt to gain
access from Nestle to sample wells screened similarly to shallow site monitoring wells or
utilize Nestle sampling data to define potential impacts to the south/southwest of the site.
A summary of the field and laboratory procedures to be followed during these assessment
activities is presented in Attachment 2. The specific scope of work is discussed below.
f,
ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
Proposed assessment activities are presented in the following paragraphs. F
SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN
As required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Standard
"Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response" Guidelines (29 Code of Federal
Regulations Section 1910.120), and by California Occupational Health and Safety
Administration (Cal-OSHA) "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response"
Guidelines (California Code of Regulations Title 8, Section 5192), SECOR will prepare, or
modify the existing, site-specific health and safety plan (SHSP) prior to the commencement
of fieldwork. Field staff and contractors will review the SHSP before beginning field
operations at the site.
I:\Chevron\91452\REPORTS\2004\monitoring well work plan 2004 rev_a.doc
