I <br /> Chevron Products Company • • 2 <br /> Chevron Station#9 1452 734 East Main Street.Ripon Californii!_ Apnl 24.2001 <br /> • SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS <br /> The site is active service station located at 334 E Main Street in Ripon, CA Current <br /> site facilities include three 12,000-gallon gasoline USTs, two dispenser islands under a <br /> common canopy, and a station building containing two hydraulic hoists <br /> On September 27, 1995 four underground storage tanks were removed, including two <br /> 10,000-gallon gasoline tanks, one 5,000-gallon gasoline tank, and one 1,000-gallon <br /> waste-oil tank Three 12,000-gallon gasoline USTs were installed northwest of the <br /> former UST complex (Figure 2) <br /> Minimal background information could be referenced in Chevron, SJPHS, or RWQCB <br /> files SJPHS denied a request for closure in June 16, 1997, on the basis that the existing <br /> groundwater monitoring well network are located upgradient of the former and present <br /> USTs <br /> Results from 4th quarter 1997 groundwater monitoring, the last data available, indicated <br /> concentrations of TPHg, benzene, TPHd, and MtBE were non-detected in any wells <br /> Groundwater flow has been reported consistently to the west at gradients ranging from <br /> 0 0002 to 0 003 feet/feet <br /> PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK <br /> This investigation is intended to define soil and groundwater conditions west <br /> (downgradient) of the present and former USTs <br /> The following specific goals are outlined to meet the objective of the Site Assessment <br /> • Three soil borings to collect soil and groundwater, <br /> • Review of soil and groundwater data, <br /> • Possible destruction of MW-1,MW-2, and MW-3, <br /> The details of the proposed scope of work are discussed in the following sections <br /> Soil Borings: <br /> Three Geoprobe borings will be advanced in the general locations shown in Figure 2 <br /> The borings will be advanced to approximately 40 feet below ground surface (bgs) with <br /> soil samples taken every five feet A Hydropunch will be used to collect a groundwater <br /> sample at approximately 36 feet bgs <br /> Soil and groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPHg, BTEX, and the fuel <br /> oxygenates MtBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), ethyl <br /> tertiary butyl ether (EtBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), ethyl dibromide (EDB), 1,2 <br /> dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), ethanol, and methanol by EPA Method 8260B <br /> 1\Chevron\91452\REP0R77SVurther site assessment WP-RevA doe <br />
