May 6, 1996 <br /> +, Page 2 <br /> Available information indicates that the original product facilities included two steel <br /> I 0,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs), one steel 5,000-gallon <br /> gasoline UST, one steel 1,000-gallon used oil UST, two product islands, and one floor <br /> sump associated with the lube bay The gasohne USTs contained supreme, meddle- <br /> grade, and regular gasolene These product facilities were removed in September 1995 <br /> The product facilities recently installed at the site include three double-walled fiberglass <br /> 12,000-gallon gasolene USTs, one 250-gallon above ground used oil tank, and two <br /> product islands (Figure 2) <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> To detererune if petroleum hydrocarbons are present in the soil and groundwater beneath <br /> the site, the following scope of work was performed <br /> • Permits. PACIFIC obtained the appropriate soil boring and ground- <br /> water monitoring well permits from San Joaquin County prior to <br /> initiating field work <br /> 0 Soil Boring and Well Installation. Four soil borings (B-1 through <br /> . B-4) and four groundwater monitoring wells (MW-I through MW-4) <br /> were installed on January 10 and 11, 1996 The soil borings and wells <br /> were installed to investigate soil and groundwater conditions in the <br /> vicinity of the former USTs, product piping, and product islands <br /> (Figure 2) <br /> • Well Elevation Survey, Well Development, and Well Sampling. <br /> The new wells were surveyed to MSL by a state-certified surveyor <br /> The wells were developed and sampled on February 12, 1996, by <br /> PACIFIC <br /> • Soil and Groundwater Analysis. Selected soil and groundwater <br /> samples were submitted to a California State-certified laboratory and <br /> analyzed for the presence of total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> as gasolene (TPPH-g), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes <br /> (BTEX compounds), total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> calculated as diesel (TEPH-d), and methyl t-Butyl ether (MTBE) <br /> i <br /> 3201591A/REPORT <br />
