The objective of this assessment was to evaluate soil and
groundwater conditions southwest of the present and former underground storage tank
(UST) complexes. Site assessment activities consisted of the drilling and installation of
five groundwater monitoring wells. Slug tests were also preformed on three previously
installed wells. Based on the data collected during this assessment, SECOR has provided
a work plan for further assessment at the site.
SITE BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
The site is an active service station located at 334 East Main Street in Ripon, California
(Figure 1). Current site facilities include three 12,000-gallon gasoline USTs, two
dispenser islands under a common canopy, and a station building containing two
hydraulic hoists (Figure 2). A summary of previous investigations is presented in
Attachment A.
ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES AND FINDINGS
On January 7 through 9, 2002, a SECOR representative oversaw V & W Drilling
Incorporated (V & W) of Isleton, California, as they advanced two shallow and three
deep soil borings (Figure 2). Soil samples were collected continuously from the deeper
borings to assess soil stratigraphy below 40 feet below ground surface (bgs). Soil
samples above 40 feet bgs were not collected due to the borings close proximity to the
1AChevron1914521REP0RTS19-1452 2002 MW SA.doc
3017 Kilgore Road, Suite 100, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 916.861.0400 916.861.0430 Fax www.seCOr.com
