RW
K f W,
...........
December !6, 1986 AGS 86102-1
Beacon Service Station ff3-492 Manteca, California
The screened portion of each well consists of thirty feet of
0.020-inch machine-slotted PVC screen. The bottom of each well
casing is Plugged with a threaded PVC plug. The well screen
extends from the total depth of each well to approximately ten
feet above the upper zone of.saturation, allowing for seasonal
fluctuation of ground water. The annular space was packed with
#3 Monterey Sand to approximately two feet above the
perforations. A one to two foot thick bentonite plug was placed
above the sand to prevent cement from entering the sand pack.
The remaining. annulus was backfilled with neat cement to grade.
Details of construction of individual wells are graphically
.,illustrated on the .Boring'.Logs.
A cast iron and steel GNI utility box with a steel apron was
Placed over the well head of each of the monitoring wells and
cemented .into place flush with the surrounding station pad. ..
These utility boxes have a water tight threaded seal to prot'(',t
01
against surface water infiltration and require a specially
designed spanner wrench for access. This reduces the possibility
of well vandalism or accidental disturbance.
-----------
.5
