(Ultramar, formerly Beacon Oil Company), we are
presenting this letter report summarizing the methods and results of the quarterly ground-
water monitoring performed.by Applied GeoSystems at the subject site. The site is at the
southeast corner of North Main and Alameda Streets as depicted on the Site Vicinity Map
(Plate P-1). The approximate configuration of the station facilities, including three
underground product-storage tanks, is depicted on the Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2).
Previous work at the site by Applied GeoSystems is documented in the reports cited in the
0. References.
A geob ist from Applied GeoSystems visited the site on July 20, 1989, to collect ground-
water s:-,i-nples from the three monitoring wells for laboratory g analysis. The depth to the
ground-Mer surface was measured and water from each monitoring well was subjectively
analyzed by methods outlined in the attached Field Procedures. The geologist noted no
subjective evidence of hydrocarbon contamination in samples from wells MSV-2 and MW-
3; a slight sheen was noted on the sample frim MW-1. Results of these and previous
subjective analyses are summarized in Table 1.
Ground wafer from each monitoring well was purged and sampled as outlined in the Field
Procedures. The purge water from the wells was temporarily stored onsite in properly
labeled, 55-galIon, 17-E steel drums, approved for that. use by the Department of
Transportation, pending removal by Ultrarlar. The field geologist initiated a Chain of
----- ---Custody-Record-that accompanied the-samples tc-the analytical laboratory.- A copy of
record is attached.
NEWII
