(EVAX) is pleased to submit this summation of
remediation efforts performed by EVAX at the request of Ultramar Inc.
r
(Ultramar) at the subject site. This report provides an overview of
J remediation efforts, a description of the system equipment, its ope0ition
and maintenance, and the system monitoring program.
y
OVERVIEW
The , subject site' is an operating Beacon service station located at the
corner of North Main and Alameda Streets in Manteca, California. A Soil
Gas . Survey and Performance Test were conducted by EVAX an 25 July 1989, g
Hydrocarbon concentration as vapor was recorded at the four wells used in. }
rzR the subsurface investigation. The results of the- Performance Test
" indicated that thy3. soilconditions were amenable to vapor' extraction.
The vapor extraction system installation was. completed in August 1989.
Operation ' began on 13 October 1989. The initial influent concentrate-Jn
of total hydrocarbon concentration as vapor TVH was `23 150
.million P (TVH) parts per .
z (ppm) or 85 pounds per day. The combustion unit operated
, 4
continuously, for 34 1/2 clays, k4 hours per day. A summary of the !!
. ' monitoring data is enclosed. A final reading was taken. at the site on 17 S
November 1989. Influent concentration was 1,970 ppm or 22 pounds per ;
day. The combustion unit was removed on 17 November 1989. Approximately
{x
2,000 pounds of . hydrocarbons were extracted and abated during the i
rt remediation project: E_
.--  —-- -- - ----- ;-:-5YSTEFi'EQUIPMENT-  --
e r The system equipment . includes an internal combustion engine andP um f
unit, collectively referred to, as the combustor unit, and an
V
r

5 4r
Vs
