INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Ms Nhuan(Nancy)Le,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc (AGE)has prepared the <br /> enclosed Preliminary Site Assessment Report for the property located at 2224 Manthey Road, <br /> Stockton, California (site) The scope of work Included advancement of six soil probe borings, <br /> collection and analysis of selected soil and ground water samples, and preparation of this report <br /> ' The work was performed as required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department <br /> (EHD)by letters dated 07 March 2002 and 09 February 2005 for the investigation of an unauthorized <br /> release of petroleum hydrocarbons from the on-site underground storage tank (UST) system The <br /> location of the site and surrounding area is illustrated on Figure 1 A plan of the site, including soil <br /> boring locations, is illustrated on Figure 2 <br /> ' h Central Valley <br /> This report has been prepared in accordance with guidelines issued by the C } Regional <br /> Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for the subsurface investigation of UST systems <br /> ' 2.0. BACKGROUND <br /> The subject property is located in a commercial area of south Stockton, immediately west of <br /> ' Interstate 5 and south of West Eighth Street The property is presently utilized as a gasoline station <br /> and convenience store Three 10,000-gallon USTs, installed approximately in 1991, and one <br /> dispenser island with four dispensers are located at the site <br /> r <br /> 2 1 REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> The property is situated within the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of California, a large, <br /> elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough The Great Valley Province has been <br /> filled with thick sequences of sediment ranging in age from Jurassic to Recent,creating a nearly flat- <br /> lying alluvial plain that extends from the Tehachapi Mountains in the south to the Klamath <br /> Mountains in the north The western and eastern boundaries of this province are comprised of the <br /> California Coast Range and the Sierra Nevada, respectively Rocks composing the basement <br /> complex of the province have not been completely defined but are believed to be of metamorphic <br /> ' and igneous origins The northern and southern portions of the Great Valley Province have been <br /> designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys, respectively <br /> ' The Modesto, Riverbank, and Turlock Lake Formations and overlying Recent alluvium are the <br /> principal source of domestic ground water in the 13,500-square-mile San Joaquin Valley Ground <br /> Water Basin (Basin 5-22) This basin is drained primarily by the San Joaquin River The nearest <br /> ' Advanced CeoEvironmental,Inc <br />
