Main St., Manteca
Site Code #2393
Dear Margaret:
Pursuant to our recent meeting concerning this site, we would like to do a test
for soil vapor extraction, at the site. We would like to install a vacuum pump on Well
#2, near the southwest corner. We will use Wells #5 and #7 as vent wells. We are
going to try the system first without blocking the aquifer portion of the well screen in
Well #2.
An air sample will be obtained from the pump to quantify what we are doing,
then we will block the air flow from the aquifer by installing an air-tight plug at the top
of the aquifer area. We will then obtain another air sample to see if this is a more
effective means of extracting the soil vapors. If neither method is effective, a formal
proposal to install a soil vapor extraction well near MW-2 will be submitted.
We will let you know when we are ready to perform our tests. We anticipate
doing the test in the next two (2) weeks. Thank you for your input and suggestions at
the meeting.
Si"rely,
Steven J. Furnas, REA
WHF Environmental Consultants, Inc.
SJF/cdc
n
