Nov 24 C3 G5: 26p GN ENGINEERING 53086-3108 P. 1
h;. rlEALTN
FAX MEMORANDUM 03 NOV 25 AM 8` 04 rn
DATE: November 24, 2003 ■ t ,
TO: Ms. Lori Duncan ENGINEERING, INC
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Division
FROM: Thomas E. Ballard
FAX#: 209-464-0138
PC'D: Mr. Jay McIlrath ( zdti) 4to7 -W71
SUBJECT: JAMAR SERVICE
4075 EAST MAIN
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Message: Upon additional review of the Cone Penetrometer(CPT) logs, groundwater
gradient information and analytical data for this site,GHH feels that the well cluster
proposed southeast of MW-7A and MW-713 should be more appropriately located to the
east of the MW-7 well cluster, approximately on the sidewalk south of Adelbert Ave.
The rationale for this location is that the sand zones in the deeper sediments(between 100
and 110 feet below ground surface) do not appear to extend to the south of East Main
Street to any degree, however, they are considerably thicker in the vicinity of the MW-6
monitoring well cluster and this is what appears to account for the higher MTBE
concentrations in groundwater at this location. MTBE concentrations are substantially
lower to the south of East Main Street due to the lack any substantial thicknesses of sand
in the deeper sediments this area, which appears to prohibit the migration of MTBE in
that direction.
To adequately define the extent of the plume,GHH recommends relocating the well
cluster as originally proposed on the south side of East Main Street to the south of
Adelbert Avenue.
If you have any questions or need additio oFo on,please call me at(530) 886-
3100.
a• c
N
Thank You, rNons94o +
'P No.7299
/U SCP CAL1fOP\
11960 Heritage Oak Place,Suite 213,Auburn,CA 95603,Telephone(530)886-3100 Fax(530)886-3108
I
