(ATC), and has the
following comments.
The Report documents a routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling event that was
conducted at your site on June 3, 2008 and operation and maintenance activities associated with the
ongoing operation of an ozone infusion groundwater remediation system. In the Report ATC
recommends modification to the sampling regimen of the sites groundwater monitoring wells. The
EHD agrees with ATC and recommends sampling wells MW-5, MW-6A, MW-7A, MW-10A and
MW-10B on a semi-annual basis, and wells MW-8, MW-9A, MW-9B, MW-9C, and MW-10C on an
annual basis. All other wells will continue to be sampled on a quarterly basis. All site wells will be
monitored quarterly to determine groundwater gradient and flow directions.
Installation of additional ozone sparge points was approved by the EHD in correspondence dated
October 12, 2007. Please proceed with submittal of a San Joaquin County well permit application,
$89.00 permit fee and $315.00 permit inspection fee and with scheduling the approved work. Deadline
for implementation of the expanded ozone infusion remediation is February 27, 2009. The EHD
additionally approves implementation of periodic injections of ozone to the offsite groundwater
monitoring wells of the MW-6 and MW-7 series. Please submit design specification details of the
process ATC will use to implement this, and proceed with implementation.
A cone penetrometor testing (CPT) investigation was conducted at your site in May 2008. Analytical
results from grab groundwater samples collected from several of the CPT borings indicate that further
site investigation is justified, specifically in the areas of CPT-3 and CPT-4. Please proceed with
submittal of a work plan to complete the investigation. The work plan is due to the EHD no later than
January 30, 2009.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at(209)468-0337.
Sincerely,
Lori Duncan, REHS Margam REH
Registered Environmental Health Specialist Program Coordinator
c: James Barton, CVRWQCB, 11020 Sun Center Dr.#200, Rancho Cordova CA 95670
Jeanne Homsey, ATC, 1117 Lone Palm Avenue, Suite B, Modesto CA 95351
