4.2 General C-SpargeTM Remediation System Description
4.2 1 C-SpargeTM System Equipment Description
The C-SpargeTM system became operational on June 17, 2004 Figure I I shows the remediation
system compound location as well as the injection and groundwater monitoring well network for
the Jamar property
The C SpargeTM remediation system at the Jamar property consists of a KVA C-SpargeTM System
Series 5030 model This includes a small profile Master Unit (43"w x 29 5"h x 12"d, 120 lbs)
which has a capacity of serving up to twelve (12) Spargepoints® sequentially but is currently
serving 10 Spargepoints® (Attachment 4) Figure 12 is a general process and instrumentation
diagram (P&ID) for the Jamar property remediation system
Two sparge points are installed in each of five injection wells (IW1 through IW5) at the Jamar
property Each of the eight-sparge points in IW1 through IW4 are on separate injection intervals
The two-sparge points in IW5 are combined together 03 is injected sequentially in each of the 8
separate sparge points at eight-minute intervals and for 16 minutes at the combined sparge point
in IW5 This is 80-minutes for all sparge points combined with one shut-off period for 10
minutes after all intervals are completed or ninety minutes for a complete cycle including the
• shut off period If the system is fully operational (i e , no unscheduled down time) each sparge
point is operated 16 cycles per day This is a total of 128 minutes per day for infection at each of
the eight separate sparge points (for IWl through IW4) and 256 minutes for the combined sparge
points at IW5 or a total system operation of 1280 minutes per day(Table 3)
The maximum delivery rate for 03 from the C-SpargeTM system at the Jamar property is 4 grams
per hour This equates to 0 002204622 pounds per hour The injection rates for the system range
between 2 0 and 3 0 standard cubic feet per minute (SCFM) based on the manufacturers
specifications - 0. as AU-
Attachment 4 also contains the manufacturer's description
4.2 2 Remediation Well Description
Table 4 includes a summary of the injection well completion data for the Jamar site Figure 13 is
a general well completion diagram for the injection wells The general construction of the C-
SpargeTM wells consisted of a 3/4" inside diameter(ID) blank casing coupled to a 1" ID - 30" long
ozone diffuser Within each injection well, two sparge points were set The tops of the sparge
points in all injection wells (IW1-IW5) were set at approximately 71 5 and 105 2 feet below
ground surface (bgs) The isolated Spargepoints® are separated by approximately 312 feet in
each injection well The base of the shallow ozone diffuser is at approximately 74 0 feet bgs and
. the top of the lower ozone diffuser is at approximately 105 2 feet bgs These ozone diffusers
were placed in an eight-inch diameter hole
S 1268231QM reports12005 2ndQR doe 6
