1v <br /> ATC <br /> A S S O C I A T E S I N C <br /> 4.4 Remediation System Monitoring <br /> ' 4.4.1 Objectives of Remediation System Monitoring <br /> The primary objective of the Jamar Property C-SpargeTM operation is to reduce the mass of <br /> contaminants in the saturated and unsaturated zones in a technically effective but also cost <br /> effective manner. In order to evaluate the reduction of mass, the objectives for monitoring the C- <br /> SpargeTM System at the Jamar property are listed below: <br /> ' ■ Quantification of the volume of 03 injected and injection pressures maintained, <br /> ■ Quantification of the system operation time; and <br /> ' ■ The overall effectiveness of the C-SpargeTM remediation system as monitored by two <br /> indicators: <br /> ' 1. VOC reduction in individual on site groundwater monitoring wells based on <br /> laboratory analysis; <br /> 2. Dissolved oxygen (DO) field determinations in groundwater grab samples from <br /> ' individual monitoring wells. <br /> ■ The cumulative mass of contaminants removed from the dissolved phase for the site over <br /> time as monitored by changes in concentration and/or areal extent in map view. <br /> ■ The overall effectiveness of the C-SpargeTM remediation system as monitored by one <br /> additional indicator to be added during 4`h Quarter 2004: <br /> 1. Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) field determinations on groundwater grab <br /> samples. ORP conditions over 300 millivolts (mV) usually indicate the presence <br /> of gaseous 03. <br /> ■ After significant reduction of MTBE, the quantification of the:. <br /> - Overall contaminant mass destruction rates (i.e., removal efficiency) for the site <br /> over time, and to the extent practical, <br /> - Contaminant mass destruction rates for the site with distance and direction from <br /> ' the injection wells over time. <br /> [Note: Reduction of benzene is expected prior to MTBE.] <br /> 4.4.2 Results of Remediation System Monitoring <br /> A summary of depth to water, groundwater elevation and groundwater flow has been described <br /> previously in this report(Table 1). Groundwater chemistry has been reported in Table 2. <br /> ' The depth to groundwater during the March 16-17, 2005 groundwater-monitoring event for all <br /> on-site wells (only) ranged from 64.81 to 65.21 feet bgs where measured.
