C4 20,. :k:i0 1 L6:122' 510791 306 EPI13EI-I PAGE 07
approximately 150 feet along the rear fence, then approximately
120 feet southerly to East Main Street and then approximately 160
feet Qast.erly to the NW Corner of the intersection of Ora and
Main Streets. Figure 1 is a site location map.
The fallowing proposal is based on. the UST removal report (June
` 6, 1995 ) from the site . The prior Phase II Report from JPCA and
the above identified letters from SJCEHD to you, dated December
5 , 2001 and March 8 , 2001 .
Prior work indicated no or minimum .levels of hydrocarbon
'contamination in both the soil and groundwater at the MW-5
location. The contamination appears to be on the south and east
portion of the subject site .
I
If the groundwater in the aquifer is contaminated then the soil
in the aquifer will be contaminated from the contaminated water.
Based on prior work, the calculated gradient varies but is
generally south easterly.
The properties in the area within a 2 , 000 foot radius surrounding
, the subject site are all reported to be on city water.
ADDIU NAL_CHARA.rTERIZATIgN
F
The tollovring tasks will be utilized to investigate and determi.ne
the vertical and lateral extent of the contaminated plume in the
soil .
k ,Task
JPCA will measure the groundwater depth in the five existing:.'
monitoring wells with an electronic probe prior to purging. The
. gradient will be calculated for the site based on depth to water
data collected and surveyed top of the casing elevations .
Task2_
One groundwater sample will be collected from each monitoring
:well , after the wells are purged and, allowed to recharge . A
clean dedicated bailer will be used to obtain the samples, then
the samples will be placed. ,in four 40 ml VOAs with Teflon septa
% and a one liter glass sampling bottle, labeled, held in a cooled
(4 Degrees C) ice chest and transported to a State Certified
Laboratory, under COC documentation, for analyses .
A well water sample will be collected from the nearest down
gradient well , Provided that: the owner of the down gradient well
' allow a .Tann P. Cummings or his agent to collect such a sample.
2
