-
WORK PLAN FOR AN
ADDITIONAL SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
AND INTERIM SOIL REMEDIATION
at
Former Beacon Station No. 12474
3443 East Main Street
Stockton, California
For Ultramar Inc.
INTRODUCTION
At the request of Ultramar Inc. (Ultramar), Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) has
prepared this work plan for performing a subsurface investigation and initiating interim soil
remediation at Beacon Station No. 12474 in Stockton, California (Figure 1). This work plan
was requested by the San Joaquin Environmental Health Department (SJEHD) in their letter
of June 3, 2002 (Appendix A).
The primary purpose of this investigation is to delineate the vertical and lateral extent of
gasoline-range hydrocarbons in- groundwater. In addition, Horizon proposes to initiate
interim remediation of soil in the vadose zone. Results of this investigation will be used to
evaluate whether future subsurface investigation will be needed and to complete a Problem
Assessment Report (PAR) Corrective Action Plan (CAP). The scope of work described in
this work plan is intended to comply with the Tri Regional Guidelines, and the SJEHD
guidelines. Horizon Environmental Inc. Field Methods and Procedures are included in
Appendix B of this Work Plan.
