ALL.
HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC.
Specialists in Site Assessment,Remedial Testing,Design and Operation
WORK PLAN FOR AN
ADDITIONAL SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
at
Former Beacon Station No. 12474
3440 East Main Street
Stockton, California
INTRODUCTION
i
At the request of Ultramar Inc. (Ultramar), Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) has
prepared this work plan. for performing an additional subsurface 'investigation at Beacon
Station No. 12474 in Stockton, California. This work plan was requested by the San Joaquin
Environmental Health Department (SJEHD) in their letter of July 12;,2005 (Appendix A).
The purpose of this investigation is to further characterize the extent of petroleum
hydrocarbons in soil and groundwater. The investigation proposes the installation of
monitoring wells to characterize water table and intermediate aquifer intervals in the central
portion of the site, and to characterize the intermediate aquifer interval in the southeastern
and southwestern corners of the site. Results of this investigation will be presented in the
context of an updated site conceptual model (SCM). Additionally, the SCM will be revised
with the addition of 1,2-dichloroethane (DCA), isoconcentration maps and notations of the
estimated distribution of analytes of concern in groundwater on the generalized geologic
cross sections. The scope of work described in this work plan is intended to comply with
the Regional Water Quality Control Board-Central Valley Region document Tri-Regional
Board Staff Recommendations for Preliminary Investigation and Evaluation of
Underground Tack Sites, and SJEHD guidelines.
4970 Windplay Drive,#C5 • EI Dorado Hills,CA 95762 • (916)939-2170 • FAX(916)939-2172
P.O.Box 5283 • Bakersfield,CA 93388 (661)589-8389 - FAX(661)589-1456
