RESULTS OF <br /> ADDITIONAL SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION <br /> at <br /> Former Beacon Station No. 474 <br /> 3440 East Main Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> At the request of Ultramar Inc. (Ultramar), Horizon Environmental Inc. (Horizon) has <br /> prepared this report documenting the performance and results of an additional subsurface <br /> investigation at the former Beacon Station No. 474 located in San Joaquin County, <br /> California. The site vicinity in Stockton, is shown on Figure 1. The purpose of the <br /> investigation was to further define the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and <br /> groundwater and evaluate alternatives for remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and <br /> groundwater. The work was described by Horizon in Work Plan for a Remedial <br /> Investigation dated June 5, 1998 and Letter Addendum to Work Plan for a Remedial <br /> Investi ag tion dated December 28, 1998, The San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Division(SJCEHD) approved the proposed work on January 19, 1999. <br /> Fieldwork completed in this investigation included: drilling and installing three groundwater <br /> monitoring wells (MW-10, MW-11 and MW-12), one vapor extraction well (VW-7) and an <br /> air sparge well (AS-1), performing a soil vapor extraction test (VET) and a combined air- <br /> sparging/vapor extraction test (AS/VET). The field work and preparation of this report were <br /> conducted in accordance with the State of California Water Resources Control Board <br /> document Leaking Underground Fuel Tanks UFT Manual and the Regional Water Quality <br />
