Aldridge TEL. NO: 559-583-3231
BACKGROUND:
In March 1991, a limited soil investigation was conducted at the site as part of a divestment
project. Analytical results of selected soil samples collected from borings drilled during the
investigation indicated the presence of trace levels of gasoline hydrocarbons beneath the site.
Removal of the three existing UST's was performed in September 16, 1993. Analytical
results of soil samples collected from the tank basin and the fuel islands indicated the presence
of trace levels of gasoline range hydrocarbons in these areas. The tank basin was over-
excavated to a depth of 30 feet in an effort to remove the impacted soil. The highest benzene
concentration detected was 0.12 ppm from the sample collected at a depth of 30 feet. TPHg
was not detected in this sample.
Based on the analytical results from the drilling and the UST removal, San Joaquin Co.
Environmental Health required that Ultramar install three groundwater monitoring wells to
assess groundwater conditions beneath the site. These wells were installed in December 1993.
Analytical results of water samples collected from the wells indicate that groundwater beneath
the site is impacted with gasoline hydrocarbons. Quarterly monitoring of the wells was
initiated in the first quarter of 1994.
Two more up-gradient groundwater monitoring wells (MW-4 and MW-5) were installed
= during=the third quarter=1996==.
MW-6 through MW-9 were installed in September 1997.
f
f
BEACON
A Member of the Ultramar Group of Companies #1 Quality and service
uitrarr"iar
