08-02-91 PHS/EHD receives a WP for the installation of an additional well to the southwest of the
former dispenser island, in the verified downgradient direction.
09-27-91 PHS/EHD receives a request from the consultant for an extension of the due date for the
submittal of the PAR to 10-30-91.
11-18-91 PHS/EHD receives a letter and a report on the subsurface investigation from the RP. The
RP again asks for closure. The report shows all six soil samples taken from the boring of
MW#4 as nondetect for TPH as gasoline and BTEX at detection limits of 1.0 ppm, and 0.003
ppm, respectively. The groundwater samples collected in September show TPH as gasoline
and BTEX as nondetect at detection limits of 50 ppb, and 0.5 ppb, respectively.
Groundwater at the site is at approximately 29' BGS and the flow direction is still to the
southwest
03-24-92 PHS/EHD receives a WP for four soil borings and for the sampling of MW#4.
04-27-92 PHS/EHD receives letter from RP again asking for closure.
05-19-92 PHS/EHD visits site to observe the drilling and grouting of four soil borings. One SB was
located to the southwest of the former tank pit area, one SB was installed on the
southwestern end and the northeastern end of the dispenser island and the fourth SB was
installed to the northwest of the former dispenser island, in the grass area. These borings
were drilled using a probe type tool with a clear PVC liner inside. The probe was pushed
down through the soil and a three foot continuous core is retrieved. A portion of this core is
cut with a knife, sealed, and stored in the ice chest for transport to the lab.
05-27-92 PHS/EHD sends letter to RP explaining the closure evaluation process. The letter also
states that some of the reports are missing and need to be resubmitted.
12-02-92 PHS/EHD sends letter to RP requesting a report of the field work (confirmation SBs)
conducted on 05-19-92 to be submitted by 12-31-92. The letter also requests a QR by 01-
15-93.
12-17-92 Meeting held at PHS/EHD with RP and consultant attending. Issues discussed were the
fact that the seasonal high groundwater is 15'BGS. Current groundwater is at 30' BGS. The
contamination is probably "hung up" in the soil but may impact groundwater again at a later
date if the groundwater rises to previous levels. The soil borings completed recently for
confirmation were between 5' and 15' BGS. The soil between 15' and 30'BGS still needs to
be investigated. The report of the field work conducted in May 1992 not yet submitted.
12-00-92
through
02-22-96 Groundwater sampling and monitoring conducted during this time period with intermittent
detections of low levels of BTEX. However, highest benzene concentration during this time
was 1.3 ppb.
11-28-95 PHS/EHD receives soil boring results of soil borings installed in 1992.
01-17-96 PHS/EHD receives closure report. PHSIEHD concurs with request for closure pending the
results of recent groundwater analysis of MTBE.
03-19-96 PHS/EHD receives quarterly report showing all wells nondetect for MTBE. Low levels of
toluene persist. PHS/EHD process site for closure.
3
