This information may provide PHS/EHD with adequate data to evaluate whether the
soil still poses a threat to the groundwater. The current groundwater data will support and verify
that groundwater is still free of hydrocarbons.
Option two: Extended groundwater sampling, through 1993 and into 1994, and then subsequent
confirmation soil sampling. This option would allow for the collection of the groundwater
supporting data first and then, based on that data, evaluate the amount of soil borings that will be
needed to confirm that the soil no longer poses a risk to groundwater at this site.
If the data provided to PHS/EHD supports that the soil at this site poses no additional risk to the
groundwater, at the present time or in the future, and that the groundwater remains free from
hydrocarbons, then PHS/EHD will concur with the recommendation for closure at this site. PHS/EHD
will then submit these recommendations to the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board for
their review and concurrence.
If you have any questions regarding this letter or disagree with this summary of the meeting, please call
Linda Turkatte, REHS,of my staff at (209) 468-3441.
Jogi Khanna, M , M.P.H.
Health Offi
t
Laurie A.
