FOOD AND LIQUOR STORE 1890
--NORTH MAIN STREET,e MANTECA
Regional Board staff has reviewed a ground water monitoring
report received from your site consultant (Kleinfelder) . The
report indicates that no ground water contamination was detected- ,
in the three on-site monitoring well samples collected 27 May
1988 . Kleinfelder also measured water levels in the monitoring
wells on the same day and determined that the gradient was to the
southwest.
Contaminated soil was removed from the vicinity of the pump
islands and the tank pit at this site in 1987 . Unfortunately,
there is no monitoring well southwest (downgradient) of the
removed pump island location to verify the present duality of the
ground water in this vicinity. There is also a water supply well `
several hundred feet downgradient from this site. We have
discussed this with the San Joaquin Local Health District and
concur that an additional monitoring well is to be installed in
the downgradient direction (between MW-1 and MW-3 and southwest
of the pump islands that were removed) . Once the well has been
installed, it is to be properly purged and sampled.
