Box 2009
Stockton, California
SUBJECT: FOOD & LIQUOR STORE 76 MANTECA, CALIFORNIA
Dear Laurie:
The enclosed analytical results are for the soil samples collected at the
Food & Liquor store located at 890 North Main Street, Manteca California
(Plate 1 ) . Six soil samples were collected from beneath the two
underground fuel storage tanks and pump island at the time of removal.
The approximate location and depth that the samples were collected are
. shown on Plate 2. The soil samples were analyzed for volatile aromatics
(benzene, toluene, xylene) , total petroleum hydrocarbons, ethylene
dibromide E.D.B. and total lead.
SOIL SAMPLE SCREENING
Approximately nineteen piles of soil have been removed from the tank
excavation and were screened on February 26, 1986. A Photovac TIP using a
photoionization detector (PID) was used to screen composite samples
collected from the piles. The PIA was calibrated to 50 part per million
(ppm) benzene. Eighteen composite samples were screened with the PID.
Two types of composite samples were collected for screening. The
composite samples were composed of either two samples from one pile or two
samples from two piles. Field screening readings ranged from 5 to 190
parts per million per volume (ppmv), and are shown on Table 1.
•
It h 11 do d 1 1. ...lo"Ikr . •r 1 A u+ n hr nu u 1 n r nr1 .
