Main Street, Stockton
This letter transmits the .results .of the Soil and Groundwater
Assessment performed by Kleinfelder, Inc. at the District's
Stockton Center located at 1804 W. Main Street in Stockton.
A total of four soil borings and three groundwater .monitoring
wells were installed. The soil analytical results are on Page 12
and the groundwater monitoring data for 2 sets of samples are on
Page 14 .
In addition to the site assessment work performed by Kleinfelder,
the District removed the two remaining underground storage.-tanks,
at:the.facil ty on-September._28_,,__l989 . A of 11 report was sent to
Ms:; Kasey Foley _of-your office on November 21 , 1989 . JNo soil
contamination was found in the tank excavations.
The Kleinfelder assessment suggests an on=site source of
groundwater contamination. The. underground .tank suspected to be
the source of the contamination was removed in July, 1987 . At
the time of removal , the concrete vault which encased the tank
was found to be intact.
Additional sampling data is necessary to -confirm the origin of
the contamination. The District will continue to sample the
three groundwater monitoring wells on a quarterly basis . The
District will evaluate installation of additional monitoring
wells, as proposed by Kleinfelder, if the hydrocarbons are
persistent.
i
2130 ADELINE STREET.P.O.BOX 24055.OAKLAND.CA 94623.(415)465-3700
BOARD OFDIRECTORS SANFORD M.SKAGGS.KENNETH H.SIMMONS.HELEN BURKE
JOHN M.GIOIA.
