Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Mr. Valinotti:
Re: Soil and Groundwater Assessment Plan: EBMUD-Stockton
Center, 1804 Main Street, Stockton, CA
This letter transmits the District ' s plan to assess the site
impact of the 1000 gallon storage tank which was removed from
the Stockton Center Facility. The plan was prepared by
J. H. Kleinf elder & Associates to meet the County' s Leaking
Underground Storage Tank Investigative Format for site assess-
ment. The scope of work will include the following activities:
o A series of soil borings will be drilled along lines
radiating away from the tank excavation area. Initial
soil borings will be placed 10 to 20 feet away from the
tank excavation area. Samples will be collected at 5-foot
intervals to an estimated depth of 30 feet or presence of
petroleum hydrocarbons.
o Soil analyses will be performed on samples from four
initial soil borings closest to the tank excavation area.
Each sample will be analyzed for volatile aromatics by EPA
Method 8020 , and total petroleum hydrocarbons by Meth-
od 3550 and GC/FID. Three samples will be analyzed for
ethylene dibromide and organic lead. Modified DHS Meth-
od AB1803 and DHS LUFT Method will be used to analyze
constituents, respectively.
o Three ground water monitoring wells will be installed to
assess the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons in the
ground water. Monitoring wells will be constructed in
three of the last soil borings. Monitoring wells will be
installed in soil borings that do not indicate a high
concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons. This procedure
BOARD Of OIRFC[ORS.
