1 <br /> The bailer used to sample each well was attached to new thin nylon line, lowered into the well <br /> by hand, filled and brought to the surface The water in the bailer was carefully poured into <br /> ' laboratory prepared 40 milliliter glass bottles (VOA vials) which were then capped with teflon <br /> lined caps Samples were labeled with stick-on labels filled out in indelible ink with the <br /> following information <br /> ' Site name <br /> Date collected <br /> Time collected <br /> Sample ID <br /> Sampler's initials <br /> Analysis required <br /> Samples were sealed into ziplock baggies and placed with ice in an insulated chest for delivery <br /> ' with a chain-of-custody document to the WESTON Analytics' laboratory in Stockton, California <br /> This laboratory is certified by the State of California to perform the required analyses Samples <br /> were submitted for analysis by EPA Method 8015 (Modified) for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons <br /> as Gasoline (TPH-G) <br /> Quality control/quality assurance procedures consisted of the collection of an equipment <br /> ' decontamination sample This sample consisted of pouring distilled water into the sample bailer <br /> after the bailer had been cleaned using standard field decontamination procedures, then pouring <br /> the water from the bailer into the sample container for analysis of TPH-G The equipment <br /> decontamination sample was collected after sampling MW-1 and was given the fictitious <br /> well/sample name MW-9 All of the samples were placed into the insulated cooler at the time <br /> of collection and were submitted to the laboratory on the same day they were collected <br /> ' The sample bailer was thoroughly decontaminated prior to and after each use to prevent cross <br /> contamination of samples The thin nylon line used to lower the bailer was removed and <br /> ' discarded after each use Decontamination of the bailer consisted of an initial wash with an <br /> alconox water solution, followed by a potable water rinse and a final rinse with distilled water <br /> The purge water and decontamination rinsate were containerized in 55 gallon drums which were <br /> labeled and left onsite All field activities were performed in accordance with WESTON's site <br /> specific health and safety plan which was available onsite during field activities The field work <br /> for this project was performed under Level D personal protection <br /> ' 5MRPTSSEBMUD2ND WP A - 2 9701/93 <br />
