PRELIMINARY SITE ASSESSMENT WORK PLAN
March 1996
Alberg Trucking
13430 Lower Sacramento Road
Lodi, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Fred Alberg,A&wnced GeoEnvironmental, .Inc. (AGE) has
prepared this Site Assessment Work Plan for the advancement of two angled soil borings in the
vicinity of the former underground storage tank (UST) area at 13430 Lower Sacramento Road in
Lodi, California(the site). The location of the site is illustrated on Figure I -Location jalap. A plan
of the site is illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan.
The investigation is performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) and Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control
Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines for the investigation of underground storage (UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND
2.1. SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located in a rural residential area of San Joaquin County, south of Lodi (Figure 1) and is
presently occupied by a bar/restaurant. Fred Alberg Trucking is located on the property immediately
south of the site.
2.2. UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
It is our understanding that two 500-gallon and one 250-gallon underground storage tanks(UST s:
Tank 91, Tank 42 and Tank 93) were removed from three separate excavations on the property in
January 1988. One additional 250-gallon UST was slurry filled with concrete under the inspection
of the PHS-EHD and abandoned in place. The 250-gallon tank is located partially under the building
at the site.
Soil samples were collected from beneath each removed UST and analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d), volatile aromatics (benzene,
toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes: BTE&X) ethylene dibromide (EDB) and total lead.
Analytical results of soil samples indicated that TPH-g and BTE&X were present in soil samples
beneath Tank 93 (250-gallon), located near the southern portion of the site. Therefore, the PHS-
EHD required further investigation at the site to determine the lateral and vertical extent of
hydrocarbon impacted soil.
