This well was originally constructed to a depth of 25 feet. In a
letter dated January 12, 2005, EHD noted the data sheet for the third quarter of
2004 showed the well depth was 9.68 feet deep and requested information on
the status of this well. There was no follow up to that request. If the well has
been damaged it must be repaired or destroyed and replaced. Information on
this well should be submitted to EHD by March 1, 2008.
Both the second and third quarter 2007 monitoring reports recommended
performance of a one time hydrogen peroxide injection using MW-1, MW-91, MW-
9D, MW-10S, MW-101, and MW 1 O and stated a work plan for hydrogen
peroxide injection would be submitted. A work plan has not been submitted to
EHD. Prior to injection of hydrogen peroxide, data must be provided to the
Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) so they can
evaluate the effects of injecting the hydrogen peroxide and determine if a Report
of Waste Discharge and Waste Discharge Requirements are necessary. This is
accomplished by performing a bench scale test to determine the potential
byproducts or breakdown products that may be formed from reactions between
the injectant, the pollutants, and any naturally-occurring minerals or metals in the
soil and groundwater. If you wish to proceed with this proposal, please contact
Jim Barton at the CVRWQCB concerning the submittal of a work plan for this
bench scale test. In addition, a technical justification for the one time hydrogen
peroxide injection must be provided to the EHD that discusses the effectiveness
of injecting the hydrogen peroxide and the amount that would be injected.
