Ms Margaret Lagono S E C O R w
April 28, 2005
Page 4
tripping 16 AMP circuit breaker The problem is being investigated and it is believed that
the compressor pulls higher AMPS when the system restarts between cycles The
compressor will be rebuilt next quarter
Monthly Groundwater Sampling
The performance of the ozone infection system is evaluated by groundwater sampling
Monthly groundwater samples were collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and
MW-3 on January 25, February 25, and March 22, 2005, and analyzed for TPHg, BTEX
compounds, and MTBE Results of monthly groundwater sampling events are
summarized in Table 2 Concentration versus time graphs for dissolved TPHg, benzene,
and MtBE in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 are provided in Figures 2, 3, and
4, respectively
REMEDIATION SYSTEM CRITICAL EVALUATION
Evaluation of dissolved concentrations through the first quarter 2005, according to
monthly grab samples, indicates that TPHg is below laboratory reporting limits in all
three wells sampled MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 MTBE continues to be present in all
three wells The highest concentration of MTBE detected was 310 g/L in well MW-1
Concentrations of TPHg and MTBE that have fluctuated within historical levels over the
short term, and in the long term, have generally declined over time The dissolved
plume remains defined by the existing monitoring well network
. CHARACTERIZATION STATUS
Contamination in soil and groundwater has been adequately delineated
CONCULSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of the first quarter 2005, the existing ozone sparge well network
appears to be successfully remediating hydrocarbons dissolved in the groundwater at
the site Although the system has had a low run time this quarter, concentrations of
TPHg and BTEX have continued to be near to or less than the laboratory reporting limits
in wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 MTBE concentrations in MW-2 and MW-3 were at or
below 6 4 pg/L MTBE concentrations in MW-1 have risen to 310 pg/L this quarter
SECOR will continue to operate and evaluate the effectiveness of the ozone sparge
system during the second quarter 2005
RECENT SUBMITTALS/CORRESPONDENCE
None
THIS QUARTER ACTIVITIES (First Quarter 2005)
1 Performed quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling (TRC)
2 Prepared and submitted a quarterly summary report
3 Performed remedial system O&M
