If confirmatory samples collected from the bottom of the excavation contain elevated W
concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons, a soil boring phase will be initiated following the
backfill of the pit. The 12-inch manholes will be utilized as access to the subsurface. Soil
samples will be collected in the same manner as previously described (Section 3.2.1 and
3.2.2), beginning with native material beneath the former tank area and continuing every 5
feet until the vertical extent of hydrocarbon distribution has been defined or groundwater has
been encountered. Results of this program will be reported and additional courses of action,
if necessary, identified in a Workplan.
6.0 Health and Safety Plan
The health and safety plan for the site, filed with the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services in June, is attached in Appendix F.
