INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
3.0 Conclusions
Four underground storage tanks, associated piping and an oil/water separator were removed
from the site on October 30, November 4 and November 321, 1991, respectively.
Verification soil samples were collected from each excavation and upon analysis, low levels
of petroleum hydrocarbons were encountered.
Hydrocarbon concentrations encountered in the former tank excavation were low enough that
no additional excavation was required (per Mike Infuma 11/13/91)
Petroleum hydrocarbons were encountered beneath the northwest comer of the northern
dispenser island. The impacted area was over excavated (per Mike Infurna 11/4/91) and
subsequent soil samples were collected. Upon analysis, no detectable hydrocarbons wee
encountered.
Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected beneath the oil/water separator in a sample taken from
the base of the excavation. The area was over excavated (per Mike Infuma 11/13/91) and
subsequent verification soil samples were collected. Upon analysis, concentrations of oil and
- grease slightly above method detection limits were encountered. These concentrations were
allowed to remain in place as per Mike Higgins of the RWQCB - Central Valley Region.
All excavated soils were stockpiled onsite pending disposal. Samples were collected from the
stockpile to aid in selection of an appropriate disposal facility. All soils were determined to
be non-hazardous and were disposed accordingly. Copies of all analytical reports and chin of
custody forms are included as Appendices L and M.
All excavations have been backfilled with clean material to grade and the site has been
repaved.
MZ101-06-92/1JsTi0054MER 9
