Lewellen, Jr.
Northbrook Properties, Inc.
555 Skokie Boulevard, Suite 555
Northbrook, IL, 60062
Subject: REPORT
LIMITED SOIL ASSESSMENT AND
SLUDGE REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL
SEPTIC SYSTEM
1444 MARIPOSA ROAD
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Lewellen,
®R
No 2 0 2003
ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
PERMIT/SERVICES
In accordance with your request and authorization, Kleinfelder has conducted and completed the
limited soil assessment, observations during removal of the septic sludge and septic tank, and
assisted in the replacement of the septic system located at 1444 Mariposa Road, Stockton,
California. This letter report details our observations and soil samplingactivities conducted
within the former leach field, beneath the septic tank, and sludge rinseate analysis. This, report
also details the removal and demolition of the former, septic tank and tank and sludge/rinseate.
BACKGROUND
Kleinfelder was contacted to provide a cost estimate to assess the subsurface soils associated
with the septic system located at 1444 East Mariposa Road, Stockton, California (Plate 1). The
property had previously been owned or operated by. US . Rentals and is in the process of being
leased to Fresno Oxygen. The assessment Was .requested as a recommended step from the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD). It appeared that EHD had concerns
that the septic system on site had received waste water generated from storm runoff and/or steam
cleaning activities conducted by the former property owners/occupants. A site visit revealed that
the septic tank appeared to not be serviceable any longer and had been:paved over with asphalt or
concrete.
- EHD had expressed interest in investigating. the soils from beneath the septic tank and the
seepage pit. Information obtained from the original permit to construct the septic system at the
site in 1970 revealed that the septic system was constructed from a single precast concrete 1,200
gallon tank, a single 90 foot long leach line (18 inches deep) leading to a 25 foot deep, 33 inch
diameter gravel packed seepage pit.
34202.E01 / ST03R1609 Page 1 of 7
Copyright 2003 Kleinfelder, Inc.
