Mariposa Road
Opposite to
USA Gasoline Station 11 110
2132 Mariposa Road
Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Setness,
I have reviewed your response (January 18th, 1995 letter) to my letter and I would like
to address some of your concerns.
The San Joaquin County Public Services (Agency) has required USA to define the
groundwater contaminant plume that exists under the USA property. USA has not yet been
determined as the cause of the groundwater contamination in the area. There is a possibility that
off-site sources may be the responsible for the groundwater contamination on the USA property.
The purpose of the installation of the proposed off-site wells is to obtain more data. The data
collected will help to determine the extent of the plume south of the USA site and investigate
any off-site sources of contamination.
USA will not be drilling on your client's property. The proposed groundwater
monitoring well is on the City Right of Way (on the side walk) as stated in my earlier letter.
The proposed well was required by the Agency and the location has been approved by the
Agency. The City of Stockton is responsible for granting permission and they will issue the
permits to install this well. The City has indicated that we notify your client of the drilling
activity, as we will be using the side walk area. The temporary access we have requested from
your client is for the time the drilling rig is parked on the side walk during the installation of
the groundwater well. We estimate the drilling activity to take about 4 to 6 Ins and it will be
done with minimal inconvenience to your client.
USA is only responsible to submit reports of all its investigations to the Agency. Copies
of any reports for your review should be obtained from the Agency. Please contact Linda
Turkette (with the agency) at (209) 468-3441 regarding reports and your concerns about the
groundwater contamination in the area.
Thank you.
Sincerely, A
Srikanth Dasappa
Environmental Engineer_
Exhibit 2 —
