The workplans are concise and readable, but <br /> the following points need to be addressed. <br /> COMMENTS COMMON TO BOTH WORKPLANS <br /> 1. The three proposed monitoring wells are required to <br /> determine the water table gradient, as well as aid in <br /> the determination of the extent of contamination at <br /> this site. Elevation reference points at well heads <br /> must be surveyed in with an accuracy of . 01 feet. <br /> 2. Page 6--The auger flights must be cleaned prior to use <br /> in each borehole to prevent cross-contamination. Is <br /> this what is meant in the workplan? <br /> 3. Page 7, 8, and 9--A plan to characterize and dispose of <br /> contaminated soil and water generated during the <br /> investigation must be submitted. <br /> 4 . -All soil samples must be analyzed for total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons (TPH) (EPA Method 8015) . <br /> -All water samples must be analyzed for benzene, <br /> toluene, and xylene by (EPA Method 602) . <br /> -Selected soil samples must be analyzed for benzene, <br /> toluene, xylene, tetraethyl lead (total lead <br /> by EPA Method 7421 with a background <br /> determination, or Department of Health <br /> Services method for organic lead) , and <br /> ethylene dibromide (EPA Method 8010) . <br /> -Selected water samples must be analyzed for TPH, <br /> tetraethyl lead, and ethylene dibromide. <br /> -Analysis for total volatile hydrocarbons proposed by <br /> Applied Geosystems is not a suitable <br /> substitute for analysis for TPH. <br /> UN <br /> � 19 198I <br /> ENVIRUM,EIVTAL HEALTH <br /> PERMIT/SERVICES <br />
