The wells were abandoned under the direct supervision of Mike
Infurna of your department. Each well was pressure grouted with a neat cement
slurry containing approximately 5%bentonite powder. Once grouted, the utility
box was removed from each well, then the top three to five feet of casing was
overdrilled. Finally, the overdrilled portion of each casing was topped with
cement concrete to provide a protective surface cap.
The vapor extraction system was filled with sand-cement slurry then also
t overdrilled for the top three to five feet after removing the utility box. Again, the
overdrilled portion of the vapor extraction system was backfilled with cement
concrete to provide a protective surface cap.
Nine soil and 15 water drums were disposed of on site in accordance with verbal
authorization granted by your office. The soil was generated during the drilling of
borings B5 and MW4 through MW7 in May of 1999. The water resulted from
well purging during quarterly sampling events. Analytical review of data
associated with the above field work revealed no significant concentrations of
_ petroleum hydrocarbon-related compounds and as such were simply spread on site.
It is our understanding that completion of the above tasks fulfills the last
requirements for site closure. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
CORPORATE OFFICE
3050 Industrial Blvd. Wallace-Kuhl&Associates,Inc.
West Sacramento
CA 95691
Tel 916.372.1434
Fax 916.372.2565 -,Ole —
ROCKLIN OFFICE Kurt Balasek
500 Menlo Drive, Soor Hydrogeologist RG, CH
Suite 100 r
Rocklin,CA 95765 l
Tel 916.435.9722 'Copies to: Dan Sweeney,United Rentals
Fax 916.435.9822 Marty Hartfeld, CVRWQCB
Recycled paper
