Box 388 • Stockton, CA 95201-0388
(209) 468-3420 Q
MIKE YOUNG
US RENTALS AUG1 1994
2081 CHARTER WAY
STOCKTON CA 95205
RE: 1444 Mariposa Rd Site Code: 2223
Stockton, Ca.
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has recently reviewed activities to date at the above mentioned site
and has the following ccoments:
-TPH-diesel, TPH-gasoline, and BTEX should be analyzed in future sampling
of soil, including confirmation sampling.
-TPH diesel has been analyzed in water samples only once. In order to
rule out TPH diesel as a possible groundwater contaminant a confirmation
analysis is needed.
-Soil contamination has not been defined to the northeast of the former
pit.
-The July 1994 quarterly report submitted by Wallace-Kuhl and Associates
Inc., does not contain water level measurements nor was the groundwater
gradient determined. This information is needed to decide the placement
of additional monitoring wells and to evaluate the rise in contaminant
levels between sampling events.
-A well survey shall be conducted to determine any well influences within
2,000 feet of the site. This includes the location of private, municipal,
and irrigation wells and shall be included in the next report.
-In order to obtain "zero lines" for soil and groundwater contamination,
additional monitoring wells and/or soil borings will be needed. Please
submit a workplan to PHS/Mm for this additional subsurface investigation
after the well survey has been completed and the groundwater gradient has
been confirmed.
-Pursuant to Section 2652(d) of the Underground Storage Tank Regulations
(California Code of Regulations, Title 23, Chapter 16) a quarterly monitoring
report shall be submitted to Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division and Central valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) until
the investigation and cleanup of the site is deemed adequate. The report is to
show the:
-status of investigation and cleanup activities including the results of
all investigations completed to date;
-proposed continuing or next phase of investigation;
-method of cleanup proposed or implemented, schedules for the completion
of the investigation of the site and remediation;
-method and location of disposal of the released hazardous substance and
any contaminated soil, groundwater or surface water.;
-manifest required for transport of hazardous substances;
-monitoring well data including groundwater elevation, pH, conductivity,
gradient;
A flicision of San Joaquin County Health Care Service%
