t
3.0 SCOPE OF WORK
The extent of impacted groundwater at the site has not been completely assessed Therefore,
p
GeoAudit proposed to install three additional monitoring wells at the site The proposed
locations of the wells are illustrated in Figure 2
' 4.0 PROCEDURES
To meet the project objectives, the following procedures will be performed
1
1) Prepare a Site Health and Safety Plan in accordance with the Occupational Safety
' and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (Prepared by the
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Occupational Safety and
Health Administration, U S Coast Guard and U S Environmental Protection
' Agency, October 1985)
2) Notify the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - Environmental Health
' Division (PHS/EHD) 48 hours prior to commencement of any work
3) Drill three (3) borings using a truck-mounted drill ng equipped with continuous-
flight, 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers The borings will be drilled to maximum
depths of 90 feet Boring locations are depicted on Figure 2
4) Obtain soil samples at five-foot intervals using a split-tube sampler loaded with three
pre-cleaned brass sleeves Preserve soil in the lead brass sleeve by covering both ends
with aluminum foil, capping, and sealing with tape
Label and to soil les on a chain-of-custod
5) Lab g samples Y form
' 6) Store the samples Under ice and transport the samples in a chilled container to a
state-certified laboratory for analysis Soil samples will be analyzed for TPH as diesel,
TPH as gasoline and volatile aromatics (BTE&X), in accordance with EPA methods
8015 and 8020, respectively
' 7) Log auger returns in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System
8) Monitor auger returns and soil sample duplicates for the presence of volatile organics
' using a photo-ionization detector (PID) pre-calibrated to isobutylene
9) Decontaminate sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water
' prior to each sampling run
10) Steam-clean auger flights after drilling
O.obpal Ault Segs.!t>e
P.aGc Cb.OR02 HW2 S
1
