PUBLrC HEALTH SERVICES
OPp.U1N: C
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Q: .a
JOGI KHANNA 31.1).,M.P.H.
Health Officer P
P.O. Box 2009• (1601 East Hazelton Avenue) Stockton, California 95201
(209) 468-3400
v
MANUEL SANCHEZ
PACIFIC GAS
920 SOUTH DAVID AVENUE
STOCKTON CA 95205
Ja.tl 1 el-'r
RE: 2088 MARIPOSA ROAD SITE CODE: 1671
STOCKTON CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division (PHS/EHD) has completed the review of the "Monitoring
Well Installation and Quarterly Report" dated November 1993 ,
submitted by Geological Audit Services, and has the following
comments.
The analytical results from the installation of the three
monitoring wells has confirmed groundwater contamination at this
site. As all three wells are impacted, additional wells need to
be installed to determine the full extent of the groundwater
contaminant plume. Should additional physical data indicate a
co-mingling of two or more groundwater contaminant plumes, a
coordinated effort on the part of all responsible parties may be
warranted.
Given the past redevelopment of the area surrounding the site,
the recommendation in the report for a historical investigation
appears to be warranted at this time.
The report mentions several remedial options addressing the
contamination found at this site. Without site specific
feasibility testing, it is premature to rule out any remediation
alternative. Feasibility testing must be conducted concurrently
with the contaminant assessment work for all remedial
alternatives being considered for this site. This information,
as well as the plume definition information, is required for
inclusion in the Corrective Action Plan. The decision to use a
particular remedial alternative for a site must be based on site
specific physical data clearly indicating the alternative to be
the most efficient for the site.
A Division of San Joaquin county Health Cine Services
