September 6, 2000 <br /> Page 2 <br /> The site is bounded to the west by Manposa Road,to the north by East Charter Way,to the south <br /> ' by Learned Avenue, and to the east by commercial and residential development(Plate 2) Blue <br /> Diamond Walnut is located approximately 500 feet north of the site Surface elevation on site is <br /> ' approximately 22 feet above sea level Local terram is relatively flat with very little relief across <br /> the site The site is predominately paved with asphalt <br /> ' <br /> Physiographic <br /> and Hydrogeologic Setting <br /> ' The site is located in the central portion of the Great Valley geomorphic province of California <br /> The Great Valley is bounded by the mountains and foothills of the Sierra Nevada Range to the <br /> ' east and the California Coast Ranges to the west The Geologic formations of the Great Valley <br /> are typified by duck sequences of alluvial sediments deposited during the filling of a large <br /> ' ancient basin The 1985 United States Geological Survey(USGS) "Geologic Map of'the Late <br /> Cenozoic Deposits of the Sacramento Valley and Northern Siena Foothills, California," shows <br /> the site to be underlain by Holocene age basin deposits These deposits consist primarily of fine- <br /> gramed silt and clay These conditions are consistent with those encountered during our drilling <br /> ' investigations Specifically, subsurface soils at the site consists primarily of silty fine sands to a <br /> depth of approximately 5 feet underlain by clayey silts with lenses of silty sands to the bottom of <br /> the borings <br /> The site lies within the San Joaquin Valley Ground Water Basin(California Department of Water <br /> ' Resources, 1986) The upper ground water table is unconfined and approximately 40 to 50 feet <br /> bsg,based on the Fall, 1997 Ground Water Elevation Contour Map published by San Joaquin <br /> ' Flood Control and Water Conservation District The regional ground water flow direction is <br /> reported to be southeasterly, ground water depths have been observed to fluctuate from 47 to 67 <br /> ' feet below grade <br /> Site History <br /> Soil Excavation <br /> . On October 29 and November 2, 1992 our firm observed the excavation of approximately 1500 <br /> cubic yards of soil from the vicinity of the former underground storage tanks(USTs) Ten soil <br /> WALLACE KUHL <br /> Aec.cled r &ASSOCIATES INC <br />
