Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Workplan for Well Abandonment Activities at BJJ Company, Inc. located at 2431
East Mariposa Road, Stockton
Dear Mr. Knoll:
ATC Associates has prepared this workplan on behalf of BJJ. Company, Inc., for groundwater
monitoring well abandonment activities at the above referenced site (Figure 1). In a conversation
with Harlin Knoll San Joaquin.County Public Health Services Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) on July 27, 2000, ATC was informed that the Regional Water Quality Control Board
had concurred with PHS/EHD's site closure request. The locations of the monitoring wells to be
abandoned are shown on Figure 2. A completed permit application and associated fee from Clark i
Well, Inc. are attached along with soil boring/well construction logs.
The wells will be abandoned by a Clark Well, Inc., a C57 licensed drilling company. The well
box and top two and one half feet of casing will be removed. The well will be abandoned by
filling the well casing and filter pack with a neat cement/bentonite grout utilizing pressure
grouting methodology. For protection of the seal at the land surface, a hole at least three feet in
diameter will.be excavated around the outside of the well casing.to a.depth of approximately two
feet below ground surface. The sealing grout will be allowed to spill over into the open
excavation. The remaining excavation will be backfilled with neat cement covered by gravel or
asphalt patching to restore the site's original appearance.
Fieldwork is currently scheduled to occur on Thursday, August 3, 2000. All work will be
completed in accordance with the site's existing Site Safety Plan (SSP) dated January 2000 and
on file with PHS/EHD. Upon completion.of abandoning the wells, ATC will prepare a brief
letter report summarizing well abandonment activities.
