City of Stockton Police Facility/Site Code 1178 =--
Soil Remediation Plan
May 21, 1992
Page 3
collected to the west (sample #1)and east (sample #4) suggest the lateral extent of spreading is
limited to the area adjacent to samples #2 and #3, approximately 3 feet wide by 18 feet along
the product line. The non-detectable levels of gasoline hydrocarbons in seven samples collected
between a depth of 10.0 to 40.0 feet in MW 1 indicate the contamination is limited to the upper
10 feet of soil.
Thus, it is estimated that approximately 15 yards of impacted soils remain in place.
PROPOSED WORK
RESNA Industries, Inc. (RESNA) will perform the following work at the site to remediate the
hydrocarbon impacted soils which remain in place.
Excavation
Suspected hydrocarbon impacted soils will be excavated employing a California licensed
contractor utilizing a backhoe tractor. All field activities will be performed under the direction
of a California registered geologist.
The excavation of impacted soils may be limited to the north, due to the existing police station
structure. Any contaminated soils left in place beneath the existing structure will be quantified
and confirmed with laboratory analysis.
Excavated soils will be field screened using a PID meter to detect volatile organic vapors.
Hydrocarbon impacted soils will be stockpiled and separated from clean soils based upon PID
measurements and field observations (odor, discoloration).
Hydrocarbon impacted soils will be covered and underlain by 6 mil plastic sheeting pending
results of laboratory analysis for the determination of the appropriate remediation/disposal
method.
SRP51992.TIL
