Presented herein is a
work plan for abandonment of recently installed groundwater monitoring wells located
within the Mountain House Development, located northwest of Tracy, California(Figure
1). This parcel is also referred to as Neighborhood E.
The wells proposed for abandonment are identified as MW-1 through MW-6(Figure 2)
and were installed in June 2004 to evaluate groundwater quality following excavation of
soil impacted by crude oil. The wells have been sampled three times since installation:
June 16-17, 2004, July 8, 2004, and August 10, 2004. No petroleum hydrocarbon
constituents were identified during the June or July sampling events, as documented in
Clayton's recent report, titled"Additional Subsurface Investigation Report" submitted to
the Regional Water Quality Control Board(RWQCB) on August 16, 2004. The results
from the third sampling event conducted on August 10, 2004 are pending, and will be
submitted to the RWQCB prior to well abandonment.
The property is scheduled for development, and as the wells are located within building
lots, the wells need to be abandoned to allow development to proceed. As the wells do
not contain petroleum hydrocarbon constituents, and the impacted soil in the area has
• been excavated and removed, the results from the wells demonstrate successful
remediation of the crude oil impacts, and therefore the wells are no longer needed.
SAES\PA0JECCS\2MM759 SheE M..4 Howe\GW mNw rk Lw\welWbmn wtI1 eben&m t workpl .DOC
www.claytongrp.com
Environmental Services • Occupational Health and Safety • Laboratory Services
