Ms. Donna DiRocco
May 29, 1997
levels for this area. The analytical results for the soil samples are summarized in Table 1 in
Attachment IV.
Analytical results from the groundwater grab samples collected from boreholes BH-1 and
BH-2 reported concentrations of TPH-D at 250 micrograms per liter(µg/L) and 76 µg/L,
respectively. Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in grab groundwater samples from
boreholes BH-3 and BH-4. Concentrations of chromium, lead, and zinc were detected in the
groundwater samples collected from the boreholes within anticipated background levels.
Concentrations of TPH-G, BTEX and oil and grease were not detected in groundwater grab
samples collected from the four boreholes. The analytical results for the groundwater samples
are included in Table 1, and a complete copy of the laboratory analytical results are included in
Attachment I.
Conclusions
The results of the soil sampling conducted during Versar's investigation conducted on
May 16, 1997, indicate the groundwater downgradient of the former automobile repair facility
contains low concentrations of diesel-range petroleum hydrocarbons. Metals detected in the
groundwater at the Site are below the maximum contaminant levels (MCLS) for drinking water.
The absence of constituents of concern in boreholes BH-3 and BH-4 suggests that hydrocarbon
concentrations are of limited extent in the Site area. Metal concentrations in the soil samples are
consistent with United States Geological Survey's published background levels for the area.
Versar appreciates this opportunity to provide professional environmental consulting
services to Bank of America.
