Box 388
Stockton, California 95201-0388 date
by
Reference: Revised Workplan for Subsurface Investigation at the Bank of e
No. 0852 Located at 234 West Main Street in Ripon, California.
Versar Project No. 3622-500
Dear Mr. Sarson:
Versar, Inc. (Versar), on behalf of Bank of.-Ninerica, has been conducting an
environmental investigation at the Bank of America Branch No. 0852 located at 234 West Main
Street in Ripon, California (Site). The Site location and Site layout are shown in Figures 1 and 2,
included in Attachment I, respectively. This revised workplan replaces the workplan submitted
with permit application dated July 10, 1997 and approved by you on July 14, 1997.
Versar proposes drilling five boreholes at the locations shown in Figure 2. Three of the
boreholes will be placed in the nearest accessible area to the auto repair facilities formerly
located at the Site. The locations of the former auto repair building is shown on the Sanborn Fire
Insurance Map included in Attachment II. Because of the presence of a former dry cleaning
facility across the street to the north of the Site. Versar proposes to place two of the boreholes in
a position between the former auto repair facility and the former dry cleaner to assess whether
the offsite former dry cleaning facility has impacted groundwater beneath the Site. The location
of these wells is upgradieut from the Site.
Assuming the upper 18 inches of soil at the Site has been disturbed by development, one
soil sample from each borehole will be collected at a depth of approximately two feet below
ground surface (bgs), or at one foot below encountered aggregate baserock. The boreholes will
be drilled using small truck-mounted Geoprobeg soil coring and sampling equipment. One soil
sample from each of the three boreholes will be submitted to a California certified laboratory for
volatile organic compounds (VOC). analysis by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method
8240.
H:W ROJECtS1HOFAW PON.REV
• SACRAMENTO OFFICE •
7844 MADISON AVENUE,SUITE 167•FAIR OAKS,CALIFORNIA 95628•TELEPHONE:(916)962-1612 FAX: (916)962-2678
