1
16 developed a workplan for additional soil and ground water sampling at the
former K-3 and K-4 gas compressor area (POI, 1997) The workplan was
reviewed by representatives of TES on behalf of PG&E The field work
' described in the workplan was conducted on February 27, 1997 The following
is a summary of the results of this field investigation
' Four Geoprobe borings were installed to ground water at the locations
illustrated in Figure 3 Field activities were performed as prescribed by the
' February 1997 workplan Ground water was encountered at approximately 9 5
feet bsg in all four borings
' Soil samples were collected at a depth of approximately 5 feet bsg and one soil
sample from each boring was submitted for analysis to Chromalab Inc , a
California certified laboratory located in Pleasanton, California Soil samples
were analyzed for purgeable TPH, extractable TPH, and glycols by EPA Method
' 8015M and VOCs and BTEX by EPA Method 8240. Laboratory reports and
chain-of custody forms are presented in Appendix C Soil samples not
' submitted for analysis were logged for soil type (Unified Soil Classification
' System), color, moisture, consistency, and odor by the field geologist Boring
logs generated during the investigation are presented in Appendix D
Ground water samples were collected from each of the four borings using a
Geoprobe Screen Point sampler Ground water was collected in appropriate
containers and submitted to Chromalab for analysis The ground water
samples were analyzed for purgeable TPH, extractable TPH, and glycols by EPA
' Method 8015M and VOCs and BTEX by EPA Method 8240 Laboratory reports
and chain-of custody forms are presented in Appendix C
