Box 388 i
Stockton, California 95201-0388 !{
Subject: Letter Workplan and Permit Application for Additional Soil Borings for
the Friendly Chevrolet Property Project Located at 2996 South McHenry 1
Avenue, Escalon, California(Site).
Versar Project No. 3375-054
Dear Mr. Roe:
Versar, Inc. (Versar)on behalf of Heller First Capital-Corporation(Heller) is conducting
environmental consulting services at the above-referenced Site. Versar has prepared this letter
workplan and permit application as per San Joaquin County Public Health Services requirements
for soil borings. The following presents the background and proposed scope of work. Figures 1
and 2 show Site location and Site layout, respectively.
BACKGROUND
On June 12, 1997, Versar drilled seven boreholes at the Site to assess the soils in the area
of former gasoline (USTs),'the former waste oil UST, and hydraulic lifts. A groundwater sample
was collected from the drinking water well at the Site. Low concentrations of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as hydraulic oil (TPH-HO) detected in the soil beneath the hydraulic lifts at the
Site. See Figure 2 in Attachment I for boring locations.
SCOPE OF WORK
The results of the soil sampling conducted at the Site on June 12, 1997, indicate that the
soils beneath the hydraulic lifts are impacted with low concentrations of TPH-HO. Versar
proposes conducting an additional subsurface investigation to assess the vertical extent of the
hydraulic oil-impacted soil Five soil borings will be installed in the areas of borings B-3,B-4, 1
B-5, B-6, and B-7 where the presence of hydraulic oil was encountered during the June 12, 1997,. j
investigation(Figure 2). The soil borings will be drilled to a maximum depth of 15 feet below
ground surface (bgs)with the aid of a truck-mounted, Geoprobe'direct-push drilling rig. The
soil borings will be continuously cored and the cores logged by a geologist.
