'
, ETS ENVIRONMENTAL
PAGE 3
4. 0 CONCLUSIONS
Based upon field work conducted on the site and review
of the laboratory data, ETS has made the following
conclusions:
1. The underground diesel tank and both underground
gasoline tanks are believed to be sound at this rk
time. Evidence for this statement comes from
laboratory data, a precision tank test conducted
during the fall/winter of 1987, and daily inventory
monitoring of the tanks by sticking.
2. A limited amount of surface soil contamination
exists in the vicinity of the underground gasoline
storage tank labeled "C" on Figure 1-1. Based on
the statement by California Water Labs that the
gasoline is very heavily weathered, it appears that
the source has been removed and that no leakage is
occurring at this time. The lab analysis also
indicates that the levels are below reportable
limits.
3. Borings 3 and 4 are located close to tank "C" and
samples from all intervals returned non-detect
readings. Therefore, it is believed that the old
\ ( spill was of small volume and limited to a very
small area.
& 4. Depth to groundwater in the area is in excess of 50
feet. At this time, given the lab results, ETS does
"- / not feel that the groundwater is threatened by
contamination from this site
^
5. The entire site and surrounding area is covered with
asphalt or buildings, thereby eliminating any
seepage into the area. Migration of the low level
contamination is not expected.
5. 0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the findings and the subsequent conclusions
of this site assessment report, ETS Environmental makes the
following recommendation.
ETS' investigation has found no evidence to indicate
that this site has a current or continuing underground
..°/ '>
storage tank problem. Low level soil contamination below ` *.--
\
reportable levels exists in a very limited area. The
analyzing laboratory noted heavy weathering of the gasoline
and it is believed that natural degradation of the components
will continue to reduce the contamination. It would neither
be reasonable nor cost effective to take any further action
at this time at this site.
